For 2020, we have added a new soil health test that measures active carbon in the samples. Active carbon is important for biological activity because it is an available energy source for the microbes. In general, active carbon is positively correlated with other measures of soil health like CO2 respiration and amino nitrogen. However, differences in the levels of these values can be useful for understanding ways to improve soil health and performance.
